Some families decide that a stay at home parent doesn't need their own car. The truth is things do come up, if your child is sick your spouse would have to leave work, you would have to basically plan your entire day around the person with the car. If you live within walking distance or have other transportation available that is helpful. You both have to be extremely flexible and work in close proximity of home or your spouse. Some places don't even have taxi service. You need a backup plan.Â
Getting another car is something to consider if you are able to. Even if you only use it once in a while. It would possibly be an emergency car. A second car doesn't have to be new or gorgeous, as long as it's reliable. Buying a second car doesn't have to be expensive. You can usually find something within your budget, based on what you are looking for. Some couples like to run errands and go different places together. Chances are most of the time it would just be for errands. There's nothing like the freedom of having your own car and doing what you want when you want. Getting out of the house even to go to the store can be refreshing and fun.Â
