Kids and Chores....Is your child on Board?

There is always debate how old a child should be when they can do household and outdoor chores. It all depends on your child and how much they can handle.

Preschoolers can easily pick things up and put them back in their place. It teaches them the
importance of tidiness.  They can also carry their dirty dishes to the sink or dishwasher.
Preschoolers can also lend a hand carrying recyclable items out to your recycle bin.  They feel
like big kids when they get to help.

Elementary school children (again depending on age and attention span) can vacuum, dust, make  their own beds, tidy their own room, do dishes, take out the trash, etc.  At this point you can use a chore chart with some sort of reward system whether it's a cash allowance, stickers, etc.

Older kids such as high schoolers pretty much are self-sufficient and can handle any chore that is handed to them.

Don't be afraid to get your kids involved.  It cuts down on house work stress and makes life a whole lot easier when a family is working together.  It's great to have kids on board the chore
