Traveling season is upon us and there are just a few things we need to start off on the right wheel! We don't know about you, but there is just something about planning a road trip that is just exhilarating. We can often spend weeks or even months planning the perfect trip with the perfect stops. Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect road trip.

Map, Maps and More Maps

You probably know exactly where you're going, what route you'll be taking, and what exits to look out for, but you should still bring maps along just in case you need to take a detour or want to go sightseeing. You can even print custom maps online.

GPS

More than likely you will definitely be driving with a GPS unit - kudos - but don't forget the maps. Sometimes if a GPS unit is not updated it will not detect newer roads, highways, or streets.

Travel Apps

You may want to download weather apps, quiz apps and many more to help you not only determine your routes and activities but also keep you and your passengers entertained while out on the road.

Road Trip Music

It is highly doubted that you will be traveling in absolute silence. You want a playlist that is going to keep you awake, singing along, and having fun!

Some good songs include -"Graceland," by Paul Simon, "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," by U2, , "Take it Easy," by the Eagles, "Pocket Full of Sunshine," by Natasha Bedingfield, "Interstate Love Song," by Stone Temple Pilots, and an all-time classic, "On the Road Again," by Willie Nelson. No, you do not want "Highway to Hell" - seriously - just no.

Food and Drinks - Pack plenty of healthy snacks, such as trail mix, protein bars, pretzels, granola bars, and some fun snacks like chips too. Have a soft-sided cooler packed with plenty of water for you and everyone else coming along. You need to stay hydrated while on long trips.

Toiletries and Other Personal Items

Make sure to pack some tissues, toilet paper, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, paper towels, etc. Also don't forget deodorant...car rides can become quite stuffy. Don't forget sunglasses to help block the sun while driving, and also a first aid kit.

Dress Comfortably and Bring Pillows and Blankets

You don't want to be dressed up for a road trip. Instead, dress comfortably, maybe sweats or jeans - dress in layers. Depending on where you're driving to or from, days can be hot and nights can be cold or vise versa. Pillows and blankets will help you stay warm and comfortable in case someone falls asleep in the car or you need to pull over for some rest.

Camera

Charge up your digital camera and make sure to take pictures of all the memorable moments you will be having on your road trip.

Car Chargers

You may need to charge your cell phones, cameras, etc. Don't forget it at home, or pick one up at the nearest gas station.

Sometimes we can be the best planners, and still forget a thing or two behind. Have this checklist ready for your next road trip. As long as you don't forget any of these things, your well planned road trip will be an assured success with plenty of fun memories!
